In 2002, Elliot Enright blazed through the 800m to capture an individual state title. That same year, the La Follette Track and Field team stood atop the podium as Division 1 State Champions.

Four years later, in 2006, Karen Greuel brought home the 1600m state crown, helping spark a championship season. That fall, the boys Cross Country team earned their place in school history as Division 1 State Champions.

The dynasty continued in 2007 as the Cross Country team defended their title, repeating as D1 State Champions.

In 2008, Alex Brill took the spotlight with a powerful win in the 3200m, adding another individual gold to Lancer lore.

2011 marked the rise of Chandler Diffee, who surged to victory in the Division 1 State Cross Country Championships.

The team came within striking distance in 2012, finishing as D1 State Runner-up in Cross Country.

In 2015, Finn Gessner began a legendary run — winning the D1 Cross Country title and leading the team to another runner-up finish.

Gessner returned in 2016 to win the 3200m on the track, then dominated again in the fall with a second Cross Country state title.

In 2017, he capped off his career with a second straight 3200m state championship, cementing his place among the greatest to wear Lancer red.

In 2023, Gabriela Lues rewrote the books at the State Meet, placing sixth in the 800m while toppling Karen Greuel’s long‑standing school record with a gritty 2:15.77—after multiple delays and a race that finally went off at midnight.

The momentum carried into 2024 with Nico Castellanos. He finished runner‑up in both the 1600m and 3200m at State, helped power the 4x800 to a medal, and then pushed the 1600m record even lower—stopping the clock at a stellar 4:10.30. Two straight years, two new distance marks for LDC.

In 2025, Gustas Montydas broke our longest‑standing distance record, ripping a blistering 1:54.16 in the 800m at the State Meet. Three years, three records—Lancer history, still being written.

🥇 School Records 🏆

The fastest to ever do it. These marks are forever etched into Lancer lore.
