LDC: An Abridged, History

In 2002, Elliot Enright blazed through the 800m to capture an individual state title. That same year, the La Follette Track and Field team stood atop the podium as Division 1 State Champions.
Four years later, in 2006, Karen Greuel brought home the 1600m state crown, helping spark a championship season. That fall, the boys Cross Country team earned their place in school history as Division 1 State Champions.
The dynasty continued in 2007 as the Cross Country team defended their title, repeating as D1 State Champions.
In 2008, Alex Brill took the spotlight with a powerful win in the 3200m, adding another individual gold to Lancer lore.
2011 marked the rise of Chandler Diffee, who surged to victory in the Division 1 State Cross Country Championships.
The team came within striking distance in 2012, finishing as D1 State Runner-up in Cross Country.
In 2015, Finn Gessner began a legendary run — winning the D1 Cross Country title and leading the team to another runner-up finish.
Gessner returned in 2016 to win the 3200m on the track, then dominated again in the fall with a second Cross Country state title.
In 2017, he capped off his career with a second straight 3200m state championship, cementing his place among the greatest to wear Lancer red.
